This piece is an iteration of a sculpture that I made previously, redesigned for blind patrons to experience. The two pieces are close to identical in form. The original is composed of a distinct palette of colors, while this object is pigmented only with Titanium White, as close as I could achieve to the absence of color.
In Braille, on an accompanying sign, is a description of the colors of the sculpture’s components. The language was derived by thinking about how these colors would feel, sound, smell, or taste. By un-coloring the piece, both sighted and blind patrons can experience the colors through the written description.

the stalk and leaves are those rays, dulled by earth and scattered with flecks of sun
the roots are clean earth
